What is a consecration family at the Heart of Jesus?
To consecrate one's family to the Heart of Jesus is to place the Love of His Heart at the centre of family life. It is a concrete way of realising the grace of the sacrament of marriage. So that their spirits might be consecrated to the Heart of Jesus and to the love promised on their wedding day, the parents of the Lord had to educate their children in the school of love. Children were born through the action of divine grace to foster wisdom, maturity, and grace, following the example of the Heart of Jesus, in the family of Nazareth.
Through the consecration to the Heart of Jesus, the family opens its doors in a special way to Jesus as the best host of the home, as the King who must preside over and guide all our material and spiritual endeavours.
The prayer of consecration
Proposal for a family consecration :
Kneel before the image of the Sacred Heart.
Invoke the Holy Spirit with a prayer or song:
Send forth your Spirit, O Lord, and all will be created. You will renew the face of the earth.
Silent contemplation.
Say the consecration formula in the box below slowly and fervently.
Conclude with a song of thanksgiving, for example: *Let us give glory to our God / How beautiful are your works / Blessed be the name of God / For your wonders.*
"Heart of Jesus, you who consecrated yourself to the Father out of love for us, we want, in the breath of your Holy Spirit, to consecrate to you the life of our family, our past, our present and our future, our home, our work and our simplest actions. We consecrate to you our trials and our joys so that the love with which you have loved us may keep us in you and remain in us forever, so that the fire of your love may set the whole world ablaze and that the rivers of living water from your Heart may flow for all to eternal life. Amen!"
Answers to your questions
Why dedicate yourself?
Because it's a way of living Christ's love by updating the grace of the sacrament of marriage and entrusting our family to the Lord so that He can be its King and protector! At Paray-le-Monial, Jesus promised peace to families and the blessing of homes where his Sacred Heart would be exposed. It is a wonderful gift for spouses and families to consecrate themselves to the Sacred Heart.

What if we welcomed the Sacred Heart into our home?
This specifically involves placing an image or statue of the Sacred Heart in your home during a domestic celebration. This requires requesting the presence of a priest.
